A nice little article from the Toronto Star on the finer points of eating sushi. Many I have never even heard of but then again, how many sushi restaurants in Toronto are truly authentic? From the Toronto Star article: …there are only 30 or 40 Japanese-trained sushi chefs in the city’s estimated 700 sushi joints, [...]
Ichiriki at Bloor and Church is more than just a sushi place, so it’s a bit different than most of the sushi places we review. One thing to note about Ichiriki is that they are closed Tuesday nights. This, however, was a Wednesday night.
Ichiriki Japanese Restaurant is located on Bloor Street East, just west of Church street. It’s in the main floor of an office building. It looks decent – from the outside. You see, they close early (6pm) on Tuesdays. Thus, no review. We’ll have to go another night of the week. File this under Worst (Non)Review [...]
Sushi Inn is located on Cumberland Street between Bay and Avenue, right in the heart of Yorkville. Sushi Club is a tiny spot on Charles just west of Yonge, right beside the Rabbas Fine Foods. There are a few booths along the side and the rest of the place is filled with small tables. It looks like it can fill up pretty quickly.
Asahi Sushi Zone is located on Church Street just south of Bloor, nestled between a supposed sports bar that caters to karaoke singers and an Indian restaurant. It’s basically a house transformed into a restaurant making for tight quarters, but a nice spot none the less.
Tokyo Sushi House is a small (almost tiny) restaurant on St. Joseph Street, just East of Bay and just North of Wellesley. There is a small sushi bar with a few tables at the back. Very small and cozy.
Sushi Garden in located at Yonge and Wellesley. It’s a tiny spot with a combination of booths and tables looking out on Wellesley Street West.
Aji Sai is located on Yonge Street, a couple of small blocks north of Bloor. It’s a small cozy place on the East side of Yonge.
Kokyo Japanese Restaurant is on the corner of Yonge Street at Alexander, just a couple blocks north of Carlton/College. They have a fairly large patio where you can enjoy both the sun and the bustling street of passerbys on Yonge.
